Biobibliographical Notes
Bob Dylan was born on May 24, 1941 in Duluth, Minnesota. He grew up in a Jewish middle-class family in the city of Hibbing. As a teenager he played in various bands and with time his interest in music deepened, with a particular passion for American folk music and blues. One of his idols was the folk singer Woody Guthrie. He was also influenced by the early authors of the Beat Generation, as well as by modernist poets.
Dylan moved to New York City in 1961 and began to perform in clubs and cafés in Greenwich Village. He met the record producer John Hammond with whom he signed a contract for his debut album, Bob Dylan (1962). In the following years he recorded a number of albums which have had a tremendous impact on popular music: Bringing It All Back Home and Highway 61 Revisited in 1965, Blonde On Blonde in 1966 and Blood On The Tracks in 1975. His productivity continued in the following decades, resulting in masterpieces like Oh Mercy (1989), Time Out Of Mind (1997) and Modern Times (2006).
Dylan’s tours in 1965 and 1966 attracted a lot of attention. For a period he was accompanied by film maker D. A. Pennebaker, who documented life around the stage in what would come to be the movie Dont Look Back (1967). Dylan has recorded a large number of albums revolving around topics such as: like the social conditions of man, religion, politics and love. The lyrics have continuously been published in new editions, under the title Lyrics. As an artist, he is strikingly versatile; he has been active as painter, actor and scriptwriter.
Besides his large production of albums, Dylan has published experimental work like Tarantula (1971) and the collection Writings and Drawings (1973). He has written an autobiography, Chronicles (2004), which depicts memories from the early years in New York and which provides glimpses of his life at the center of popular culture. Since the late 1980s, Bob Dylan has toured persistently, an undertaking called the “Never-Ending Tour”. Dylan has the status of an icon. His influence on contemporary music is profound, and he is the object of a steady stream of secondary literature.

Giải Nobel văn chương 2016 thông thường sẽ được công bố trong cùng một tuần với những giải Nobel khoa học khác nhưng nó lại bị tách bạch sang tuần khác. Nhiều ý kiến cho rằng có vấn đề trong nội bộ ban giám khảo nhưng điều này đã bị phủ nhận. Thay vào đó, Viện Hàn lâm Thuỵ Điển cho rằng, đó chỉ là vấn đề hậu cần giữa những lần trao giải.
Theo công bố của Viện Hàn lâm Thụy Điển, Bob Dylan đã được vinh dự nhận giải cho những phát kiến của ông về biểu đạt thơ ca trong các sáng tác âm nhạc truyền thống đồ sộ của Mỹ.
Đây cũng là một kết quả khá bất ngờ bởi Bob Dylan không nằm trong số những nhân vật được dự báo sẽ thắng giải.
Bob Dylan có thể chơi rất nhiều nhạc cụ như guitar, keyboards và harmonica.
Bob Dylan được coi là một trong những tượng đài văn hoá đại chúng Mỹ. Nghệ sĩ 75 tuổi này được biết đến nhiều với tư cách ca sĩ, nhạc sĩ. Tuy nhiên, ông còn thử sức với lĩnh vực văn chương, thơ ca, hội hoạ và đều gây được tiếng vang.
Bob Dylan là một trong những nghệ sĩ có ảnh hưởng sâu rộng trong đời sống văn hoá Mỹ suốt 5 thập kỷ qua và được coi là người đại diện xuất sắc nhất cho thế hệ mình. Ông chính là người khai phá truyền thống trong âm nhạc Mỹ ở nhiều thể loại, từ rock, blues, country đến rock and roll...
Đến nay ông đã bán được hơn 100 triệu đĩa nhạc, ra 6 cuốn sách về hội hoạ và có rất nhiều tranh trưng bày tại các gallery... Bob Dylan sở hữu rất nhiều giải Grammy, Quả cầu vàng và 1 giải Oscar. Năm 2012, ông nhận Huân chương tự do từ Tổng thống Mỹ Obama.

Chiều 13/10 (theo giờ Việt Nam), Hội đồng Nobel của Thụy Điển đã công bố giải Nobel Văn học 2016 thuộc về nhà thơ, nhà văn, huyền thoại âm nhạc nổi tiếng người Mỹ Bob Dylan.
Theo đánh giá của Hội đồng Nobel, ông Bob Dylan xứng đáng nhận giải thưởng Nobel văn học năm nay vì đã "sáng tạo ra những cách thể hiện mới đầy chất thơ trong nền âm nhạc truyền thống vĩ đại của Mỹ".
Sinh ngày 24/5/1941, Bob Dylan không chỉ là một nhà thơ, nhà văn mà còn là nhà soạn nhạc, nhà biên kịch và ca sĩ tài năng. Ông là nhân vật có tầm ảnh hưởng lớn tới âm nhạc đại chúng nói riêng và văn hóa thế giới nói chung trong 5 thập kỷ qua. Rất nhiều thành quả lao động của Dylan đã được công nhận từ thập niên 1960 và giành được nhiều giải thưởng uy tín như giải Grammy (âm nhạc), Quả cầu vàng (điện ảnh) và Pulitzer (báo chí- văn học)... cho sự nghiệp âm nhạc và văn chương của mình. Ông được coi là tượng đài văn hóa của thế kỷ 20 và từng được mệnh danh là "lãng tử du ca". Các tác phẩm nổi tiếng của ông như "Blowin in the Wind, The Times They Are a-Changin... đã trở thành "thánh ca" trong các phong trào đấu tranh vì dân quyền và phản chiến. Đặc biệt, ông cũng từng đấu tranh chống cuộc chiến của Mỹ tại Việt Nam.
Nobel Văn học là giải thưởng cuối cùng được công bố trong mùa giải Nobel năm nay. Theo truyền thống, mỗi giải Nobel kèm theo phần thưởng 8 triệu crown Thụy Điển (tương đương 933.000 USD). Các nhà khoa học được vinh danh sẽ nhận giải tại buỗi lễ trao giải chính thức vào ngày 10/12 (đúng ngày mất của nhà sáng lập giải thưởng Alfred Nobel ở thành phố Stockholm của Thụy Điển. Riêng giải Nobel Hòa bình sẽ được trao cùng ngày tại thủ đô Oslo của Na Uy.

【ロンドン時事】スウェーデン・アカデミーは１３日、２０１６年のノーベル文学賞を「風に吹かれて」などのヒット曲で知られる米シンガー・ソングライターのボブ・ディラン氏（７５）に授与すると発表した。授賞理由として「米国の楽曲の偉大な伝統の中で新たな詩の表現を創造してきた」点を挙げた。村上春樹さんは受賞を逃した。
スウェーデン・アカデミーのサラ・ダニウス事務局長は１３日、授賞発表に際し「彼は偉大な詩人だ。（デビューから）５０年以上経てなお、新たな自己を発見し続けている」と絶賛した。
「時代は変る」「ライク・ア・ローリング・ストーン」など、半世紀にわたり創作してきた楽曲歌詞の文学性を高く評価されての栄誉で、ミュージシャンのノーベル文学賞受賞は初めて。米国からの受賞は１９９３年の黒人女性作家トニ・モリスンさん以来２３年ぶりとなる。
４１年、中西部ミネソタ州生まれ。フォークシンガーとして６２年にレコードデビュー。生ギターの弾き語りによるプロテストソングを数多く作り、公民権運動の盛り上がりの中で「時代の代弁者」として脚光を浴びた。さらにベトナム戦争の時代を通じ、米国内外にファンを広げた。
６５年前後からビートルズらの英国ロックに刺激を受け、エレクトリックサウンドを導入するなど、新しい試みにも挑戦した。ただ「ロックの詩人」として新しいファン層を獲得する一方で、伝統的フォークファンからは批判も受けた。
６６年にはバイク事故をきっかけに半隠遁（いんとん）生活に入るなどしながらも演奏活動を続け、米グラミー賞やアカデミー賞を受賞し続けた。ロックの殿堂入りも果たした。
ランボーら象徴派詩人に影響を受け、ギンズバーグらビート派詩人らとも交流したディラン氏は、歌詞などを集めた詩集も刊行。２００８年にはピューリツァー賞特別賞を受賞するなど、その文学性は高く評価されてきた。
賞金は８００万スウェーデンクローナ（約９５００万円）。授賞式は１２月１０日にストックホルムで行われる。（2016/10/13-21:56）
